This portrait depicts Albizu Campos as a martyr. Above his head is a halo as he stands behind a podium, which reads "Republica de Puerto Rico." It suggests a need for a resurgence of a movement similar to that of the Nationalists and calls for another charismatic leader with the fire of Albizu. Follow the Leader was first exhibited as part of Ame-Rican Borders: Artists Ponder the 100 Years since the US Invasion of Puerto Rico at Taller Puertorriqueño, Philadelphia in commemoration of the centennial.
