Ochun Installation,
Goddesses detail
2003
Mixed media installation,
6' x 10'
This altar was erected for Ochun. The satin used for the background
and table and the transparent fabric used for the canopy are in her color.
In the center is her painting. On the table are objects that represent
Ochun such as amber stars, mirrors, a yellow candle and peacock feathers.
On the ground are oranges that my mother contributed to the installation.
Also included is an image of La Caridad del Cobre, Cuba's patron saint,
with whom Ochun is associated. For a detail of the painting see the Miel
de Abeja piece.
